Place Making Challenges: Integrated Approaches

January 20th , 12 pm - 4pm,
The Maltings, Ely

January 27th , 12 pm - 4pm,
The Holiday Inn, Basildon

Place Making Challenges: Integrated Approsches was the 5th in our series of seminars open to Councillors and Officers in the region. The programme has been funded by Improvement East and was run in both Ely and Basildon.

The highly topical subject of this event proved extremely popular and provoked much livley debate during both events, and the networking lunch, opening both events, was once again well used by representatives from over 20 different local authorities in the region.

The seminar began with an introductory talk by Phil Jones of Phil Jones Associates setting the scene and providing useful facts and figures. Then David Birkbeck of Design for Homes talked more specifically about design options with some interesting examples of parking solutions. Then the afternoon session kicked off with Jon Finney of Cambridgeshire County Council talking about the Cambridgeshire Design Guide and provided and interesting planning policy background to the day. Lastly Keith Lawson from Essex County Council provided an interesting overview of what is going on in Essex
